Brrr, is it as cold where you are as it is for me? I woke up to this sight this morning:
Snow! And thankfully, I didn’t have to go anywhere today, so I’ve just been enjoying looking at it, and watching the birds squabbling over the bird feeders.
I’ve also been doing today’s advent ornament, of course, so here’s a round-up of my last few days:
On the eighth, I got this lovely variegated pink yarn, the shades ranging from bright to dusty. It’s really lovely, and I decided to make a little angel with it. Sort of an angel, anyway – I didn’t add a halo, so maybe it’s a fairy. Either way, it’s very cute, and the pattern involved post stitches, so I was happy with it 😀 the pattern is Oombawka Design’s Angel Christmas Ornament, which is available for free.
Yesterday I got this gorgeous vivid blue and yellow striped yarn, with touches of green where the blue meets the yellow. I was so tempted to do another star with it – the blue is so deep and brilliant – but in the end I made Marjolein Flick’s Christmas Bell Ornament. I used the same yarn for the holly leaves and berries, and I used a silver bead for the bell. It came out really well, and is a really quick pattern to work up.
Today I got this beautiful pink and red yarn (and a little sheep badge!), and I knew straightaway I wanted to make a heart with it. The pattern is Lynda Cyr’s Tree Hearts, and it worked up in no time at all. With this yarn it’s only a teeny tiny heart, but I love it 😀
And now I think it’s time to bury myself under a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate. The snow has melted a bit over the course of the afternoon, but it’s still very cold!
