Stylecraft Blog Tour 2017

Hello! I’ve been excitedly watching as this year’s Stylecraft blog tour has wound its way around the world, waiting for my turn. Yesterday you were with Julia at Hand Knitted Things, and today you’re here in my cosy little corner, for my first ever blog tour! It’s been so terribly fun seeing what all my fellow blogstars have been created with these gorgeous yarn packs.

You’ve seen all four of them now, lovely squishy yarn packs of Batik and Batik Elements. I chose Lagoon:

Lagoon
Four balls of Krypton, plus one each of Indigo, Sage, Storm, Silver, Teal, and Lupin

Look at all those lovely blue and green shades. And the yarn itself is so soft. Utterly gorgeous to work with. I’d not used Batik before, so when they told us, at the blogstar meet-up in July, that this year’s blog tour would use Batik and Batik Elements, I was very excited 😀 I looked at all four colour packs, but my decision was easy. I love blues and greens, and I saw the Lagoon pack and knew exactly what I wanted to make with it.

Yes, a ripple blanket. Because these shades just made me think of the shifting green-blue of the British sea. But, being me, I couldn’t just do a straightforward ripple. Oh no. I had to add post stitches in, because as you all know, I do adore my post stitches.

It adds such a lovely texture to the blanket, and makes the different stripes really pop out.

With the ten balls in the pack (500g of yarn), I created a blanket 30×31 inches in size, with a tiny bit of each colour leftover. Perfectly sized for a toddler, or a smaller lap blanket – or, if you’re in my house, for a cat blanket.

Pattern
You will need:

  • One Lagoon pack of Batik and Batik Elements (or: four balls of Krypton, plus one each of Indigo, Sage, Storm, Silver, Teal, and Lupin)
  • 4.5mm hook
  • Tapestry needle to sew in the ends.

The pattern uses US terms. Please note that it’s untested, but it should be straightforward to follow.

You can find it as a free pdf download here on Ravelry.

And just to make this post extra special, those lovely people over at Stylecraft are giving away a Lagoon colour pack to one lucky winner! The competition runs from 10am today (26th October) until 10am tomorrow, and the winner will be announced at about 2pm tomorrow, on the Stylecraft FB page. All you have to do is CLICK HERE for a chance to win. Good luck!

Tomorrow you’ll be going to see Angela at Get Knotted. I can’t wait to see what she’s made 🙂

  4. I am enjoying your blog, thanks to the BlogTour. I was very excited to see the Lagoon pack today as I was super busy for a couple of days and missed the last chance to enter for it. Lovely colours and I really like your blanket, too. And your cat . . .

  5. How do you increase the size to make it a normal couch throw size. And then how would I figure out how much yarn to buy for it? I love this pattern
