Well, we’ve all made it through Christmas. Hurrah!
And that means I can do my now-annual post-Christmas crafty showing off post. Not that there’s actually much crochet, this year – I’ve been terribly busy and decided to give myself a break this Christmas by not crocheting many presents. I did, however, spend a manic couple of days doing nothing but pompoms and tassels, which I mostly turned into keyrings and/or bag charms.
I also made a couple of pom-pom/fairy light jam jars. These were really simple; I bought some battery-powered mini LED strings and made pompoms that I tied onto the wires. It all went into a big jam jar as a nice, quick present 🙂
And also a really good way to use up odds and ends of yarn 😀
The only crocheted Christmas present this year was the Nature’s Walk blanket, which I talked about briefly here. It was a lovely CAL run by Sandra of Cherry Heart, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable blanket to make. I had no particular destination in mind for it, but a friend kept eyeing it up, so I wrapped it up for her as a Christmas present 🙂
I used Scheepjes Stone Washed with a 3.5mm hook – check my Ravelry project page for full details. And I have enough yarn left over to do something like a cushion to go with it, at some point. Maybe for next Christmas’s present?!
Post-Christmas, I have lots of things on my to-do list. I’ve nearly finished my next blanket design, which I’ll be sending off to my testers soon. I’ve also got Christmas yarn that’s begging me to use it asap – four skeins of goooooorgeous wool/cashmere/silk hand-dyed yarn that is absolutely squishable, I can’t wait to work with it.
And, of course, the Kaleidoscope Blanket CAL starts on Friday! Can you believe it’s almost here? I can’t 😀 it’s been so long since I began to work on this blanket; I really am so excited to see how you all get on with it.
On a related note, CONGRATULATIONS to Leanne Verrier, Suzanne Sherrington and Amy England, the three winners of the Kaleidoscope colour pack giveaway. Your yarn will be winging its way to you in the New Year 🙂
I’ll see you all on Friday 😀
