Belatedly, I’m back to give you all a closer look at the second colourway for this blanket, Highland Hike.

This colourway was actually the third colourway I chose, after Moorland Meander and Woodland Wander, because I kept playing with these colours and I decided I couldn’t resist.
Officially, I chose this as a palette to echo a highland covered in heather, with cooler tones that make this a markedly different choice to the other two colouways while still showing off the cables nicely. Unofficially, it’s a colourway I simply had to use!
This blanket is the one that my wonderful friend and tester (and mod for the CAL) finished for me when time ran away from me. I was and remain very grateful to her – though her comment was that she got the fun of crocheting without having to pay for the yarn without having to find room for the blanket 😀 I think it really is my favourite, and one I’m eyeing up for my bed.
For this blanket I used Grist (5 balls), Shale (3 balls), Cairn (3 balls), Heather (3 balls), Thrift (3 balls) and Thistle (3 balls).
Both Jill and I used a 4.5mm hook for this blanket, which measures 55.5 inches x 69.5 inches (or 133 cm x 177 cm).
The gauge is: 1.6 inches by 4 inches = 6 rows of 20 dc. You should comfortably have 1.6″x4″, with absolutely no need to stretch your piece at all. If you’re too big, go down a hook size; too small, go up a hook size. All gauge details will be in Part 00, the Introduction, which will be published 6th January.
I will be back by the end of the weekend with a look at the third and final colourway for this blanket, Woodland Wander 🙂
xx
