The Winding Path CAL – Part 01

Welcome to Part 01 of the CAL! I hope you’re all ready, hooks in hand and yarn sitting beside you waiting to be worked up 🙂

Part 01 is the only square of the blanket, sitting right at the centre. It functions as an introduction to cables, with a four-stitch cable that spirals up the motif. By the end you should be comfortable with front-crossing post stitches, if you weren’t before.

You’ll be using colour A, if you’re using the official colour packs – that’s Lichen (Highland Heathers) for Moorland Meander, Grist (Highland Heathers) for Highland Hike, and Gingerbread (Special DK) for Woodland Wander.

If you haven’t checked your gauge already, now is the time to do it – before you start the squares! But don’t forget that all gauge really tells you for a blanket is how much yarn you’re likely to use. If your square is bigger or smaller, you’ll need more or less yarn. That’s all.

The pattern is available now on Ravelry. To remind you, it’s available in US terms only, but with plenty of pictures and a stitch diagram to help you out.

And if you need more help, the best place to ask is over in the Facebook group, where Jill Fredrikson and I will be around to answer any questions you have. It’s a great place to share in progress pics, too – I love seeing them!

Enjoy!
