I’m back again with a closer look at the final colourway for this CAL 🙂

This is Woodland Wander, a colourway in Stylecraft Special DK.
I chose these colours for two reasons. Firstly, to offer a brighter colourway than the two in Highland Heathers, with earth tones and neutrals contrasting with the deeper, richer red and green to offer a sense of a woodland in autumn. And secondly, on a more practical level, to offer a colour pack at a cheaper price point for everyone. It’s also true that while Highland Heathers is a gorgeous yarn, lovely to work with and infinitely washable, Special DK is a lot of people’s go-to, workhorse yarn (mine included!), and I would honestly feel slightly odd doing a CAL without a SSDK colourway!
This blanket was worked up entirely by the wonderful Jill, and that, at least, was always planned!
She used Gingerbread (5 balls), Bottle (3 balls), Stone (3 balls), Claret (3 balls), Camel (3 balls) and Graphite (3 balls).
She used a 4mm hook for this blanket (whereas the two blankets in Highland Heather were worked with a 4.5mm hook). It measures 55.5 inches x 69.5 inches (or 133 cm x 177 cm).
The gauge is: 1.6 inches by 4 inches = 6 rows of 20 dc. You should comfortably have 1.6″x4″, with absolutely no need to stretch your piece at all. If you’re too big, go down a hook size; too small, go up a hook size. All gauge details will be in Part 00, the Introduction, which will be published 6th January.
Don’t forget that the yarn packs are on sale now at Wool Warehouse (Moorland Meander here, Highland Hike here, and Woodland Wander here), and of course you can buy yarn at your local yarn shop or use stash.
See you all on the 6th January for the Introduction!
xx

Happy New Year! I’m very much looking forward to this CAL. I’ve wanted to master cables for a long time and this seems like the perfect way to do it. Thank you!
