I am back, as promised, with a new pattern for you all!

A lovely one-ball Christmas stocking for you all. With post stitches, because would it be me if I didn’t include post stitches in a pattern? π
The lovely people at Stylecraft have released some new Christmassy yarns this year, and I spotted this yarn, Wonderland Chunky (this colourway is ‘Gingerbread House’), and went ‘ooh, I know what I want to make with that’.
The designing of it was a bit of a process, as ever – I knew it didn’t need to be able to fit anybody’s foot, particularly, but getting the dimensions right was still important! Socks are something I’ve never yet managed to crochet (I can never get my gauge right for them – there must be some simple trick I’m missing) – but I’ve made some Christmas stockings before, so I knew the sort of shape I needed.
And voila! I’m pretty pleased with the result, though I do say so myself. It’s crocheted toe-up, in one piece, and the only bit of sewing you’ll need to do is to sew up the heel and tidy away the ends. I hope you’ll enjoy it – and more importantly, that it will end up stuffed full of goodies on Christmas morning π
Here’s what you need to know:
- The pattern uses US terms and assumes you’re familiar with basic stitches and post stitches.
- It uses one single ball of Stylecraft Wonderland Chunky.
- I used a 6mm hook.
- You will also need a tapestry needle to sew up the heel and secure the ends.
Gauge: after your first two rounds, your work should measure just under 2β/5cm. If your circle is much bigger, go down a hook size. If it is much smaller, go up a hook size.
The pattern has been tested, but we’re only human – forgive any errors!
The pattern is available for free on Ravelry.
As ever, my patterns are free, but if you would like, please feel free to make a donation to an ME charity (such as ME Research UK) instead.
Enjoy!
Thank you!
