So who else has been playing with Stylecraft’s new(ish)* Colour Pool yarn?

It comes in six gorgeous colourways, which all make it absolutely simple to get a delightful Argyll effect. And when I saw it, I knew I had to have a play 😀

Stylecraft do have a range of free patterns for it, but for my first play I decided to just follow the pattern on the ball band, and make a simple moss stitch scarf, because the colour pooling of the yarn is beautiful enough to stand on its own.

It’s a little tricky to get the hang of, in that you have to be really careful with your gauge. The colour stripes do vary in length ever so slightly – enough that you sometimes have to crochet one section a little tighter, or a little looser, to keep the colour changes in the right place to create the pattern. But once I got my head around that, I was off and away.

Isn’t it stunning? So little effort, so much beauty. I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve had from people coming into the house and seeing me work on it. ‘How clever!’ ‘Magic!’ ‘Wow, well done!’ and I’m sitting there taking credit I don’t deserve 😀

I used roughly a ball and a third for the scarf, including yarn for tassels.

It was going to be added to my pile of ‘Christmas present for somebody’ crocheted items, but my mother declared it was too pretty to leave the house, and snatched it/was given it for herself. A win all round, I think!
