I have successfully achieved ornaments for both days one and two of my yarn advent calendar 😀 and both of them were completed on the day – though yesterday’s needed a gentle overnight block, which is why I didn’t post about it yesterday.
Yesterday, on the first, I opened my first little package and found this gorgeous mottled yarn, bright vivid orangey-yellows. Obviously I had to make a star with it! The pattern is Cotton Pod’s Starfish Applique, which is a free pattern. It was well-written and the star has turned out absolutely beautifully.
Today I got this gorgeous blue and white variegated yarn. I pondered for a while what I could make it into, but in the end I decided a little stocking would be perfect. The pattern is Le monde de Sucrette’s little Christmas socks, another free pattern. It worked up nice and quickly and looks really adorable. I sewed on a button on either side, too, as an embellishment. I am rapidly developing a button problem. I need a proper button box! Sorry about the dim lighting for this one; I didn’t want to wait until morning and proper daylight 😀 but you can see what the colours are really like from the skein on the left.
I’m so excited to see what I’m going to get tomorrow 😀 I’ve got quite a bit of yarn leftover from each skein so far, which I expected – I’m not sure what I’m going to do with those, but I’ll think of something.
No wonder you’re inspired, with such beautiful yarn. I love the yellow.

I saw some mini skeins in a shop on Friday and wondered what I would do with them. Now I know!
